RECOGNITION

Help Getting Your Symbols

Officially Recognised

Recognition

The most important element of any successful symbol, as much as a great design or emblazonment, is being able to make it a reality.

This is more than just a bureaucratic tick-box exercise, this is about ensuring a level of recognition and respect for  the symbols of your identity.

With over 15 years experience across a variety of symbolic mediums, Philip can achieve official recognition for the symbols of your family, business or community.

Community

Engagement

Across the UK Philip has developed processes and techniques for communities to take ownership of their own symbolism and development.

Whether acting on behalf of the Lyon Court in Scotland or the Flag Institute elsewhere, Philip is the leading expert on how to develop symbols that a community can take to heart.

Philip has expertise as well as templates and resources to help and is always happy to visit and talk. This work remains his greatest passion, and is something he remains committed to doing.

Petitioning

for Arms

In Scotland, Philip has the rare honour of having been bestowed with the 'right of audience' at the Lyon Court.

In this capacity Philip can produce proposals to be presented to the Lyon Court as initial ideas on the design of new Arms, as well as assist in the preparation of paperwork.

With experience of the registration process, as well as the ability to act on your behalf, Philip can help you or your business get symbols recognised.

Wider

Symbols

Philip's involvement with, and expertise on, local communities has seen him support several symbolic projects.

In addition to Philip's core strengths around flags and heraldry, he has also worked on tartans, county days and associated community merchandise.

Flags and heraldry are a major foundation to any cultural, clan or corporate identity, and Philip can help maximise this through recognition of further related symbols.

Outreach

Philip is a great champion of informing and empowering as many communities across the nation as possible.

This stems from a genuine belief that this maximises the buy-in from a community for it's design, opens up the art of heraldry to a innovative new audience and helps promote an important cultural institution.

As such Philip is passionate about working in communities as much as possible. This video, courtesy of Skye Connect, illustrates how he does some of this work and why communities are keen to develop such symbols.
